I saw this interesting video about a secretary working in an office in 1947. It was fascinating seeing everything done without computers, such as the paper calendar and hotel guide book.
Does anyone know of similar materials that show or recount of the day-to-day workings of offices before work computers? Thank you!
If you have any used bookstores in your area you might want to check there for old textbooks. I have a copy of Applied Secretarial Practice that I really love. It's a high school text book that discusses how "modern" offices work; dictation, shorthand, composing business correspondence, mail and telephone procedures. There is even a chapter on dress and grooming. I was hoping that I could find a scanned copy online that I could point you towards but there doesn't seem to be one.
