I tried asking this question elsewhere and I suppose it sounds so strange and possibly controversial that I'm having a difficult time getting approval. Was this a real thing? I've noticed multiple comedy films, satire, where the Jewish characters often live down inside tree stumps and burrows and one has to have a password to get through. Was this an actual historic thing, like people lived this way to escape persecution, or is this just comedic nonsense?
There are stories of biblical protagonists hiding in caves, but not in hollowed out tree stumps or underground burrows. During the Holocaust, it's hypothetically possible that some Jews temporarily hid in an underground location. I would guess that your question has been viewed with concern in the past because it's hard if not impossible for most people to think of a comedic/satirical film that depicts Jews hiding from people who wish to do them harm. Out of curiosity, can you remember the names of any of those comedy films?
