I know the Secret Service didn't exist until 1865, but did the Founding Fathers, possibly the big names have bodyguards or secret service-like people to protect them from the British soldiers or Loyalists?
Not really. Generally speaking the Founding Fathers were not specifically targeted during the Revolutionary War. Many, however, sustained general loss or injury due to the war itself.
The Founding Fathers serving in the Continental Army would have had the typical protections of being part of a military force. But others did not.
Even after the revolution this tendency continued. In fact, it was reported that on his inauguration day, Jefferson "walked from his boarding house to the Capitol, unaccompanied by any guard, to take the oath of office."
It wasn't until much later that presidential protection became the mainstay of any one organisation. At times the US Army was used for this purpose. But even the Secret Service - created in 1865 to invesigate currency fraud - did not assume its protective role until 1905. It actually remained a part of the Treasury portfolio until 2003.
