I noticed a lot of serial killers were charged with sodomy. So was this mainly an extra charge that could be tacked onto a list of crimes to make it longer? Or was it like loitering, used as an excuse to charge "undesirables" with a crime? Or was it neither of those? Edit: I was thinking of the USA in the 20th century.
