I'm thinking c. 700-1300 CE in Western Europe (Great Britain, France, HRE, etc.). I feel like I can picture the homes of the rich fairly well because they're depicted so often on television (and still exist in some areas), and I have also read great descriptions of the apartments that the Roman poor lived in. However, I've never read much about the homes that peasants lived in during the Middle Ages. I'm interested in both rural and urban homes, but if you only know about one that's fine too. Thanks!
Try "A Timetraveler's guide to medieval England". It was written by a historian, and is fairly accurate so far as I can tell, and has a chapter dedicated to exactly your question. It also covers the rich as well, as TV almost always gets everything horribly wrong. It only covers 1300-1400 though, so that's something to keep in mind.
