Angkor was the center of administration for the Khmer Empire. It had reservoirs, temples and palaces. As Zhou Daguan described it was one of the greatest cities ever built, he mentioned three specific buildings such as the the Bayon;Baphuon and the royal palace. So it surely was such urbanized as many metropolis of the time, it even had more population during it's golden age than Paris at the same time.
