It's by a muslim and it's about living with the crusaders (franks I think he calls them). Basically the guy tells stories about the strange things the franks do because they don't understand middle eastern culture. Here are two memorable anecdotes that may jog your memory if you've read it:

1. The frankish quack: There was a man with a small wound on his leg. Arabs had great medicine at the time, so a healer puts a clean bandage on, tells him to change it a few times, and that the wound should heal within a few months. There is also an ex crusader doctor in the room, who in a fit of ignorant ethnocentrism, assumes that he is right and the muslim doctor is wrong. So he grabs a blade and chops the guy's leg off; the poor dude dies screaming in agony as he bleeds out.

2. The awkward bath house haircut: Europeans did not place the same emphasis on cleanliness that the muslims did at the time. One thing muslims did as a result of this, especially for the bath house, was to trim... down there. The author tells a story of his friend, who had never thought of that, discovering the authors shaved... you know... in the bath house. The frank was ecstatic and immediately requested this service from his friend. The author complied, and wasn't bothered by it. The REAL issue was that this man then brought his wife into the male bath house... and had the author help her out in this manner too! So, as you can imagine, given muslim sensibilities regarding the separation of men and women, this was NOT COOL. What a hilarious story. I'm pretty sure the author even describes his friends...situation... as a thicket or a forest or something.
