What were the physique requirements for different kinds of Gladiators?

I've heard there are a lot of different kinds of gladiators. But two kinds of gladiators seem to come up a lot.

Gladiator one) Heavy armor, limited motion. Gladiator two) Light armor, free motion.

But may I ask, what were the physique requirements for these two niches? Were the physique requirments different for gladiatos that wore heavy armor compared to gladiators that wore light armor?

There really aren't just "two types of gladiators."

It's more like a series of combinations and styles being repeated. For example, you may see a "Provocator" who resembled a Roman Legionaire, or a "Retiarius" who carried a trident and net. There were also cavalrymen, chariot riders and other specialties. The Arena was mostly entertainment, as you know, so it's natural that it would adapt with more diverse "occupations" to keep the crowd entertained.
