I don't know about many, but I do know about Coca-Cola. During the war, the Coca-Cola company in Germany wasn't able to import the syrup they needed from the United States to make Coca-Cola, especially considering the formula is still secret to this day. So instead they used alternate syrups and flavorings to make what they could. The Germans called it "Phantasie", which is the German word for "Imagination". Today it is known as, Fanta.
