He disliked hitler after the 1932 Presidential election. Most of all it is because of Hitler gaining the support of war veterans, such as the organisation Stahlhelm and the right wing who had formerly supported Hindenburg when he first ran for the office of the President in 1925. As Hitler gained support, Hindenburg became appalled that a corporal from Bohemia (hence Hindenburg referring to Hitler as the Bohemian Corporal) could win so many votes in a straight up election against himself, as he was formerly seen in the eyes of Germans as a hero at Tannenburg and father figure of the nation.
