Hitler actually spent very little time in Berlin during the war. Most of his HQs were near the front. However, life there was somehow extremely isolated. This is documented by some of his inner circle. Despite the daily briefings and visits by generals the war was very distant, not directly affecting them until they moved to Berlin. Even then he was isolated in the bunker and rarely saw the distraction first hand.
