In Apartheid South Africa, did laws only apply to black people, or were Asians like the Chinese and Indians also grouped with the black?

People in South Africa were divided into four groups: White, Coloured (generally mixed ancestry, with ancestors including Khoisan, White, Malay, Black), Bantu (Black), and Indian. Various restrictive laws applied to all non-white groups, with the most restrictive laws applying to Black South Africans. The theoretical eventual goal was to assign all Black South Africans to independent homelands, and for Indians to leave South African and go to India (I'm not aware of any steps taken to achieve the latter goal). East Asians were assigned classifications for arbitrary political reasons, some of which, like Taiwanese, were classified as "honorary whites" because the apartheid government wanted to maintain good relationships with Taiwan.
