Colonel Shrapnel was the man who invented the exploding cannonball and everyone thought it was absolutely immoral at the time. His invention's success in battle at Fort New Amsterdam, Suriname, on 30 April 1804 would forever tie his name to small shards of metal that would inflict tremendous amounts of carnage.
