The founder of this religion (If I'm not mistaken) was Rasta Fari AKA Haile Salasie, who was from Ethiopia. How did his religion reach all the way across the ocean without spreading to other countries first?
I understand that most West Indians are of african descent, but slaves were mainly taken from west Africa, and even then Ethiopia was never colonised by the Europeans.
Am I missing some information?
Rastafarianism did not begin in Ethiopia, and Ras Tafari was not the founder of the religion.
Rastafarianism originated in the West Indies, and among other things was informed by the Pan-Africanist writings of Marcus Garvey.
