What are you using for the basis that alcoholic drinks were originally used for ritual?

The oldest evidence of alcoholic beverages found were in a village in China from ~7000 BCE. No evidence points to these having been used strictly for rituals. That's not to say it wasn't used, but animal sacrifice was used in ritual - that doesn't mean animals also weren't eaten for non-ritual purposes.
