The title says it all, I still have doubt about the battle being fought with such ridiculous disparity in numbers of the opposing force because so far the sources that i found is only Wikipedia and it too only contains Polish sources.
This doesn't that I bought the myth that German soldiers are supermen wielding space age technology and always prevails against its enemies though. It's just that 40:1 seemed too far fetched for me

Better late than never. So, basically Wizna as "Polish Thermopylae" is a myth. And I'm saying this as a Pole. It's a myth created by communist propaganda in 50-60's. Tl;dr of what happened is: Germans were delayed because of the logistical problems (building the bridge over Narew), and 40 000 soldiers was total strength of the forces commanded by Guderian. It's not like people with that 40 000 of them were actually fighting. Only recon units were caught in fighting with the Poles there, after Germans build the bridge Polish defense was broken after a few hours. I don't know much good english sources on that because I'm mostly familiar with Polish ones. But it was realistically described in the Heinz Guderian book "Panzer Leader".
