Context?

Like where in the world do you live, what nationality was/is your grandad, is it possible he is pictured, if so where was he likely to have been at that sort of age?

To me it looks like they're in front of flats of a stage set, either a photographers set or a dramatical groups set. The gap under the left "wall" and lack of skirting board, the apparent painting/drawing of a carving on the right "wall" and the apparent obtuse angle between the two "walls".

Very mixed costumes, they appear to be wearing normal dress shoes rather than the boots I'd expect for military people. The two on the left [as one views the photo] look like they could be in typical early 20th century work clothes. The flamboyantly dressed man on the right appears to wear slippers.

The guy on the left has a long tassle, and appears to have a flintlock pistol, which might date his "costume" to the Crimean???
