During the reign of Theodosius, and later his sons Honorius and Arcadius, paganism in most forms became illegal religions despite a relatively high number of believers still within the empire. Did any accounts of pagans, specifically Greco-Roman polytheists and those in mystery religions, survive?
On a related note, given that paganism seems to have lasted longer under the Byzantines, was there less persecution in the Eastern Roman Empire?
