Today we see fossil fuels arguing against solar, gas cars against electric ones, pain medication against marijuana legalization, and so on.

I am wondering if this is a newer thing brought about by our connected world or if entrenched businesses of old campaigned/fought against innovations that made them less important/obsolete?
