This dagger is currently owned by my sister, but she has offered me to take it in the interest of having it restored. We don't know much about it, aside from it being originally owned by our Grandmother's uncle.

Her Uncle grew up in Isreal, and moved to Scotland and became a Doctor and Researcher. We know he did a lot of work in Africa and the Middle East in the late 19th/early 20th century, including Persia, where he bought rugs which have also been passed down to our parents.

It would be great to know a bit more about the origins of this blade, as it's part of my family's history and it would help narrow down where our Great Granduncle purchased it.

I figured I'd ask this subreddit first since I've seen posts from other users wanting to know the origins of swords.

What I would like to know:

• Where it came from (based on other items, possibly middle eastern, maybe Persia)?
• What kind of dagger is it, if it's correct to call it a dagger?
• I think there is some Arabic inscribed onto the handle. Is that correct? What does it say?
• Is it an ornamental sword? Or could it have been used by military?
• I'm from Warwickshire, England, would anyone recommend a good place that could repair/restore this, as you can see the blade is rusted and the scabbard is falling apart.
• Any other interesting information would be great as well.
