You should a) check out the search function and take a look at some related answers, as there have been some interesting previous posts on social views of mental disorders in past societies and b) narrow down your question a lot by specifying region and time period, as survey-style "throughout world history" questions are strongly discouraged (as explained in the subreddit rules, this is because they tend to attract bad answers, are basically impossible to answer well, and makes a real mess for moderation)
