Stalin came out a winner at the end of WWII and yet, there's a massive discrepancy between the way Stalin and Lenin are perceieved. Why is that, when Lenin was just as complicit in purges of political opponents and domestic terrorism?

And considering Stalin's instrumental role in WWII, shouldn't he, if anything, be portrayed in a slightly brighter light than Lenin?
