Hello, I have to write a paper for my western civilization class. The question is: "did the Roman empire collapse or evolve." I am pretty split on this. Literally split, when the empire was split into east and west, the west definitely fell because constant attacking a pillaging from the barbarians while (how I see) the east survived and evolved into what we know as the byzantine empire. What do you think? Are you a continuist or catastrophist?
