Hi, I'm hoping this is the correct place to post.

I'm looking for a book on the theory of feudalism. In other words, not on the middle ages or 'feudalism in ****' etc., but on how it works, it's origins, obligations of a feudal lord and vassal, characteristic traits of feudal or feudal-like societies and so on.

I'm doing a comparative analysis of a local society in the 17-1800s, and I'm going to compare the feudal and patron-client relations of the local government officials, but I can't seem to find any good litterature on feudalism in general.

My English isn't really up to academic standards, so I hope you understand what I'm asking for. I'm currently looking at Marc Bloch’s Feudal Society. Can anyone tell me if that is a good starting point, or will I need more supplemental litterature?
