How was Europe called by other cultures in the antiquity? I couldn't find anything on wikipedia. It only has information for Europe, at least that's what I found.
So what were the names for Europe from other cultures? The Egyptians and the Middle easterns should have had a name? What were they? And if you incidentally know something about its etymolgy, feel free to tell it.
Thx in advance
They didnt think of peoole as european, because that would be to take lots of different peoples and cultures and lumping it into a group that is too big and diverse to describe in a meaningful way.
They would call the different cultural peoples and areas by their respective names, sometimes different from what those peoples called themselves, and usually different from what we call them now.
For example the spartans, were called Laconians and greeks in general were called hellenes.
Related, in the series Marco Polo the Western protagonist is called 'a Latin'- is this accurate?
