I am tasked with writing a research paper on how John Muir is relevant to the modern U.S.. Problem is that I had never heard of the guy prior to getting the assignment and I'm not sure where to even begin with this. What books should I start reading? what would even be considered a primary source for that type of paper? Is a primary source a newspaper from now because the question is "relevant to the modern U.S.? Or would the primary source be something written when he was alive? Sorry if asking about school papers isn't allowed.
Any of his essays, letters or books would be a good place to start and would probably be considered a Primary source.
The National Park Service also made a documentary about him. Entitled "Biography of John Muir" It's on youtube, I won't link it as I can't be sure of it's copyright status.
