Idk but it just popped into my mind recently. How was language developed? How did early humans decide that "Oh this thing should be called a tree". I know it may seem vague, but having no precedent, how was language 'made'?
It's not at all a stupid question-- it's one that people have been interested in for a long time, and there's still no consensus on the origins of language though there are plenty of theories and speculation. But all this goes back waaaay before recorded history, and possibly before anatomically modern humans, so you might have more luck asking in /r/AskAnthropology if you don't get an answer here.
