My question is actually rather short. When was the last effective cavalary charge. Not the last time cavalary was used, but the last time they archived their goal in a way that can be called a sucess. And not just a technical victory.
The 26th Cavalry Regiment of the Philippine Scouts (US Army) fought a successful action during the American withdrawal to Bataan in January of 1942. They surprised and drove off Japanese infantry and light tanks at Morong giving other units time to withdraw. Their weapon was a Colt 1911 pistol. Soon afterward their unit was disbanded and the horses were slaughtered to feed the troops on Bataan. Thats the last "successful" charge I'm aware of.
