This seems a bit odd considering tea is the 2nd most consumed beverage in the world besides water. Why exactly was coffee seen as a more luxurious beverage in Europe?
Apologies if this is obvious, but a timeline would probably be helpful. When was tea considered "not as noble a drink as coffee"?
