I've been getting in to learning more about World War I and have referred to the AskHistorians book list. However, I don't see any books that focus on U.S. involvement, and that is something I'm kind of interested in. And yes, the U.S. was in the war for roughly a year so I would think that there wouldn't be too many books about the U.S. and WWI. Also, I didn't recognize books that focus on the southern and Middle-Eastern theaters (i.e. the Balkans and the Ottoman Empire). So I would really appreciate if any of you have recommendations for books about U.S. involvement and the southern and Middle-Eastern theaters.
Middle East
Interestingly, the US was never at war with the Ottoman Empire.
As for books about the conflict in the Middle East, two very good ones have come out quite recently, Sean McMeekin's Ottoman Endgame and Eugene Rogan's The Fall of the Ottomans. I probably like McMeekin's book a bit more because it's denser, but as an introduction Rogan is probably your best bet. You'd be well served by either one.
