The project I am doing for school currently is about Caesars assassination. Most people have looked into the actual event, but I am more interested in why the conspirators did it, and were they justified. Unfortunately, the books at my local library have dealt with the event in not enough detail, and since I am a student, I don't have the money to spend on books that may actually have the answer I'm looking for. I was wondering if you guys could help me out by explaining their motivations or by pointing me in the direction of detailed sources about the topic. Thank you.
These other questions might help you, as they touch on some similar topics:
Was the assassination of Julius Caesar legal?
Why were so many of Caesar's assassins former friends of his?
How did Julius Caesar's armies react to his assassination
I've seen Julius Caesar reffered to as a "villain." Why is that?
Were Caesar's murderers motivated by a desire to restore the republic?
There is of course some redundancy in them but I think that each has some different nuances you might find insightful.
