Caves, graves and rocks in Central Anatolia (Kayseri)

by ThickToe

I live in Tomarza, Kayseri, Turkey. Many civilizations lived in this city. In short Hittites, early Christians(3rd century) and Armenians. I found Byzantine money which belongs to Justinus II (568-575). There are many underground cities here. One underground city here in my village has a large round rock at the entry of the cave. It can fit between two walls when you push it, so no one can open it from the outside. There are rectangle graves on top of rocks. And there are many rocks with signs on it, like carved circles with small lines. See picture below.

I would like to learn about the history of this city. I would like to know who made rockgraves, and to whom these underground cities belonged to. I would like to know why there are broken potteries every square metre in this small village. I really appreciate it if anyone could give a link to a website or book so I could learn more about it.

There are similar things in Armenia

It could have been done for astronomical calculations, at least that's what the ones in Armenia do, the holes are directed towards some stars or galaxies. Just a guess.
