As Gregor Mendel was experimenting with his pea plants what else was he doing at that time. It takes time for his plants to grow so what was occupying his time?
Mendel was an Augustinian Friar, and he entered the monastery of St. Thomas in Brno in 1843. He studied natural history at the University of Vienna from 1851 to 1853, and then returned to Brno to teach natural history. His pea pod experiments took place from 1856-1863, all the while he was teaching and performing his functions as a friar. Source: Edelson, Gregor Mendel: And the Roots of Genetics.
