Queen Elizabeth's sister, Princess Margaret was not allowed to marry Peter Townsend because he was previously divorced, but wasn't the whole Church of England founded so King Henry VIII could divorce his wife?

Henry was never divorced, he got an annulment. This differs from a divorce as it's not a breaking of an existing marriage it's a ruling that the marriage was never one in the first place. Hence why Margaret marrying someone who is divorced is a no no and why Edward VIII abdicated the throne.
