Why didn't the fad of recording songs in the rain stay to our days? When did that fad drop off?

I like how songs used to be recorded while the rain was audible in the background.

Don't you like the sound of rain behind a song? I do. I wish I could hear rain behind the likes of Pharrell Williams, Selena Gomez, Bieber (would be liked better with rain behind him, maybe), Jonas Brothers, Green Day, Metallica, and other modern song artists.

Anecdote: This video autoplayed after that song, and there's rain behind that too, even though it's a non-sung speaking clip.

So apparently they wanted to record people's speeches amongst a rainy auditory backdrop too.

That begs the question:

#Why don't we like to record rainy background noises in our song and speech recordings anymore?

Am I part of a minority who thinks recordings in the rain (or with a rain sound if not in a rain) sounds nicer and more calming than recordings that don't include rain sounds?

Isn't that just the sound an old record makes when the grooves in the vinyl become damaged?
