In Dave Chappelle's SNL Opening Monologue, Chappelle mentions sometimes as historical fact:
1st Black person invited was Frederick Douglas & Lincoln had walk to gates to meet him.
2nd Time an African American was invited was during FDR & he got so much slack from the press that he never invited another.
Is there any historical basis to this assertion by Chappelle?
Just a quick fact check here on the second part. Chappelle said "Roosevelt" and it was Teddy Roosevelt with Booker T. Washington. Linky - http://www.npr.org/2012/05/14/152684575/teddy-roosevelts-shocking-dinner-with-washington
