Following the devastation and defeat of Germany in WW2, what happened to the "financial identities" -- i.e. the savings, investments, mortgages and other debts -- of individual Germans?
I'd be very interested in an answer to this as well. Especially what happened with the monetary resources of banks with locations that were now outside of the German boundaries, i.e. a local branch of the Sparkasse that would now be in Poland.
