I was looking for books or documentaries about German unification but I couldn't find much. At best I could find overviews of the 19th century that devoted a chapter to the topic.
The only book I could find was The Wars of German Unification by Dennis Showalter. I was wondering if anyone had read it and what they thought of it?
It's on my bookshelf, and I've poked through it, but I haven't gone through the whole thing yet. For what it's worth, Showalter is a top notch military historian with a focus on Germany, so I think you'll be in good hands.
I haven't read that, but if you're looking for a book specifically about German unification I think "The Question of German Unification: 1806-1996" by Imanuel Geiss is quite good.
