Recently I took an interest in family history and found out through my parents that my mothers grandfather was supposedly a driver for the SS up until the end of the second world war. How would I go about finding out more about this guy and were there even dedicated drivers that were a part of the SS? If it matters all I have is his last name which is Schultz.

Hopefully someone can help with information about drivers for the SS in general, but I'd suggest that /r/genealogy should be your first port of call, since they could give you some advice for finding your great grandfather's identifying information such as name, birthdate, home town, etc. Once you've got that , you can use the resources here to request info on his military service record
