I am interested in learning what the everyday people--natives and colonials alike--did, thought, felt during the time of Columbus. I'm looking for a survey for lay audiences. Zinn's work is likely the most popular on the topic, but I have come to learn he does not have the best reputation among people who know infinitely more about the topic than I do.
However, when looking for an alternative, there haven't been very many suggestions in the sub's history--just a lot of topics and comments decrying his poor scholarship.
I'd love to have recommendations to read over the fall break.
Question, if you don't mind OP.
He was honest enough to admit his bias rather than hide it. I don't think he believed there was such a thing as an 'objective' historical account.
Aside from the final chapters where he preaches his value, I'm curious to know what were some of the (hopefully accurate) valid criticisms towards PHoUS?
