Is there more context for this question, like a picture or something you read? I'd like to see an answer too if it's true.

Maybe one of the Asian flairs can clarify how often and in what contexts armor was actually used during the 18th and 19th centuries in China or India? Looking at depictions of Qianlong Emperor's Ten Great Campaigns for example there doesn't seem to be much armor shown.
