Was there any rebellion in British history that was called something like 'Clemenson's Rebellion'? There is a single dialogue in a movie I enjoy that mentions it in an old multi volume history. Apparently there was at least one major battle in the war/rebellion. As for the time period I would guess that the book may have been written around the early nineteenth century and given the nature of British history that I remember it probably was somewhere between 1600-1750. That is my best guess. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Could you have misheard "Claiborne's Rebellion 1644 - 1646"?
It arose out of a dispute between the different British colonies of Virginia and Maryland over Kent Island, which had been part of the territory of Virginia grant in 1609 but also formed part of the grant to Maryland in 1632. An influential Virginia colonist, William Claiborne, had established a trading post on Kent Island and, after some sea hostilities, Maryland seized the island in 1637. Virginia forces under Claiborne (supported by the colony council) recaptured the island in 1644. They also incited an insurrection in Maryland and held it from 1644 to 1646.
