I mostly asking if their is any historical tolerance towards LGBT people or if it is just a coincidence.
Want to add a few things.
There are anti-homosexuality laws in Indonesia, just not at the national level. Two of the largest provinces have Sharia type laws.
Homosexuality is very taboo in Indonesia.
There are 76 countries where homosexuality is illegal. Lots of places you would expect but also Jamaica, Barbados and Grenada. So it's not entirely a muslim issue.
