I'm looking for an overview of Ancient Egypt (up to say the Roman period) that some might consider a classic or essential work. Or failing that, just a solid introduction to the subject. My amazon research has found the Toby Wilkinson book The Rise and Fall of Ancient Egypt and has good reviews, but I figured I would get the /r/askhistorians perspective before I buy anything.
