Hello, so I got assignement for my history lesson to write a 1000 word essay with title - The [CHOOSE EVENT] was the most important milestone of the 20th century and this is why
I had this assignement since september but was kinda procrastrinating till now and I have 3 days until deadline.
I was thinking about two topics to write about and I would like to ask you for some sources on both of them as some starting point for me.
Btw i chose these two because I live in Slovakia, a country influenced by a propaganda war led via internet pages. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Are you familiar with Google Books? It's a search engine that indexes the contents of millions of books, and allows you to search. Here are the results (in English) for a search of 'Internet Propaganda'. You'll notice a number of helpful books appear on the first page, and that you can read previews of large sections of many of the books. Reading through these results might help you narrow in on a more specific topic.
When looking for sources, remember that books published by University Presses are usually better researched / more credible than books published by other kinds of publishers. Look at the publisher and check, does it say '[SOMETHING] University Press'? If so, that's probably a good source to cite. If it says something like, 'Bob's Bargain Books,' you can guess that the publisher probably didn't bother to have anyone review the contents of the book for accuracy, and you are best advised to stay clear.
Another good resource to look for sources is also by Google, called Google Scholar. Here's a search for 'Internet Propaganda' again. You'll see that you get different results than a book search -- Google Scholar indexes peer reviewed journal articles as well as books. Not every source that turns up in this list is credible, but you're likely to turn up a lot of good results.
Best of luck! I think you already know that you should leave yourself more than 3 days for the next one of these papers you're assigned ;)
Hello there. Your question seems to be related to school work, so we just want to remind you, and any potential respondents, that our rules DO permit people to ask for help with their homework, so long as they are seeking clarification or resources, rather than the answer itself. This policy is further explained in this META Thread.
Additionally, while our users may be able to help you out here, we hope that you also will take the time to check out our six-part series, "Finding and Understanding Sources", which should hopefully prove to be helpful for you as you continue in your research.
