I have recently become fascinated with the Spanish Civil War, and wish to write a story from the perspective of an anarchist fighting in the Republican forces. Where should I look for the best information and sources? Thanks!
Take a look at the Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History fond 545 "Interbrigades of the Spanish Republican Army". It's available online here. The site is in Russian, but the documents themselves are in a variety of languages. The interface isn't great, but you should be able to get around with Google Translate. Register here first so it doesn't bug you with a not particularly intuitive popup.
Years ago I remember visiting a friend and looking at their books and seeing a book called the Blood of Spain that was an oral history of the Spanish civil war written from collected interviews from participants (both right and left) recorded between the 1960s and 70s when they were still alive. Pretty amazing honestly. I just noticed amazon is selling the book for 1 cent probably worth a check.
Hey there! I've written some things on that topic, i guess i could find a way to help you.
First of all... can you read Spanish?
