Can anyone help identify this? I've had it for a few years. (German certificate of some sort 1935)

I picked this up as a freebie when buying a few medals a few years ago and I have no idea what it is or what it says.

You can try r/translator for this.

First of all, the font is in blackletter, which became outdated in German-speaking countries in the 1st half of the 20th century. Strangely, it alternates between a proper “s” and the “s” that looks like an “f” which makes that font infamously hard to read.

Anyway, the form reads:

Bundesministerium für Landesverteidigung (?) 74518 / (???) von 1935.

Ausweis Herrn Franz(?) Paluels(???) in Misburg/Haunover(?) wurde die österreichsche Kriegserinnerungsmedaille mit den Schwertern verliehen

Wien, am 8. April 1935.

Im Namen der österreichischen Bundesregierung Für den Bundesminister für Landesverteidigung Lehner Gey(???) (Signature)

Translation:

Federal Ministry of Defence (?) 74518 / (???) in 1935

Identification Card

Mr Franz Paluels (?)

In Misburg / Haunover was awarded the Austrian War

Commemoration Medal with Swords.

Vienna, April 8th 1935

In the name of the Austrian Federal Government

For the Federal Minister of Defence

So what does this mean? It seems like is a relatively ordinary Austrian medal for service in WW I that does not mention any special actions or distinguishments and seems a bit run-of-the-mill. Then again, at least he received a version "with swords" (not real swords, probably just extra symbols), which indicates that the recipient saw active combat. The Wikipedia-article has a nice image, if you want to look at it htps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Commemorative_Medal_(Austria) (Sorry, the () breaks the Hyperlink)

I am sorry I cannot provide further information.
