After World War I, the Kingdom of Prussia was abolished, along with the rest of the German Empire. In its place was the Free State of Prussia, which included most of the territory of the old Kingdom of Prussia, minus the bits that were lost to Germany after the war.

Prussia continued to exist as a state of Germany until 1947, when it was abolished by the Allied Control Council via Control Council Law No. 46.
