Dis the scuttling of those 77 ships in Toulon prove vital to the war? Would the North African campaign or the German blockade had been seriously affected?
Nope. For several reasons: -The German first need to form the crew to master the ships first which would take several months. -Although the number of ships can seem big, the ships are essentially light ships like destroyer, tugboats or minesweeper. Only one battleship and 9 cruisers, nothing to really worry the Royal Navy. -The French ships are average, their anti air ability are very low and they lack radar and sonar ability.
