Why was the French revolution radicalized?

by CazaPutas

Was this radicalization inevitable for the revolution to survive? I have been reading Burke's opinions, Mignet (liberal), Michelet (romantic), Aulard (political vision), Marxist, revisionist views ... And I'm made a mess. Which is the correct? Are they all in one way or another? Sorry if there are mistakes, english is not my first language.

I think an important precursor to this question would be: how do you define "radicalized"? The Tennis Court Oath could be considered "radical". Identifying when it became radical is the first step - the Declaration of the Rights of Man? The Jacobin Terror?
